A French Angle :
The new French Popular Front declares “unconditional support for Ukraine against Putin’s aggression :
Statement : French Committee of the European Ukraine Solidarity Network : “The arrival of the RN (Marine Le Pen’s far-right National Rally) to the government in France would be a major asset for Putin”
Paris Commune, June 19, 2024
The arrival of the RN (Marine Le Pen’s far-right National Rally) to the government in France would be a major asset for Putin, would step up his game, bring support for Trump, and could, by aggravating or relaunching the restrictions, hesitation and ambiguities of Western governments, have direct implications on the course of the war. The fate of the Ukrainian people resisting the Russian imperialist invasion and the fate of the French people facing a major regime crisis offering the RN the opportunity to govern are linked today.
The French Committee of the European Solidarity Network with Ukraine states that defending Ukraine and the fight to prevent the RN from gaining power in France are linked.
The agenda of the New Popular Front is clear on Ukraine. Here is the relevant passage :
“Defend Ukraine and peace on the European continent.
To defeat Vladimir Putin’s war of aggression and to have him answer for his crimes before the international justice, we will indefinitely defend the sovereignty and freedom of the Ukrainian people and the integrity of its borders, by the delivery of necessary weapons, the cancellation of his external debt, the seizure assets of oligarchs that contribute to the Russian war effort in the framework allowed by international law, sending blue helmets to secure nuclear power plants. In an international context of serious tensions and the return of war on the European continent, work to bring peace back. “
Accordingly, the French Committee of RESU calls for support in the French legislative elections the candidates of the “New Popular Front”, and, if necessary, to remind them of their program, to defeat the first Putinian force in the country, which is the National Assembly.
