Irish Left With Ukraine – Neither Moscow nor Washington

Many of those who are hotly arguing – correctly – that Russia is not a direct threat to Ireland and will not, cannot, invade the EU, calling out propagandist bullshit, argued and continue to hotly argue that NATO, and even the EU, was and is a threat to Russia and that this was a provocation that justified, or partly explained, the – actual – invasion of Ukraine by Russia. 

Some defending and standing in solidarity with Ukraine are supporting European rearmament and militarism as a projected way of supporting democracy and European “values” against Russian, US and other authoritarianism (including authoritarian governments in the EU!!!). This ignores the complete complicity of leading EU institutions and governments in a genocide in Gaza which matches or overtakes any or all barbarities inflicted by Putin’s Russia on Ukraine. 

Look up and down, between the people and the powerful, workers and generals and corporations, the invaded and bombed and the colonialist aggressor. Not from side to side, between favoured and disfavoured imperial blocs all with rivers of blood on their hands. 

Arm Ukraine for its defence. Not European capitalism for stronger domination and warmongering. Free Palestine.
